INA President Publishes
Two New Titles in 2009

Gold Rush Port: The Maritime Archaeology
of the San Francisco Waterfront

After several years of work on each title, Dr. James Delgado has the unusual coincidence of having two of his books published in 2009. The first, Gold Rush Port: The Maritime Archaeology of the San Francisco Waterfront, is the result of 30 years of excavation of buried ships, docks and lost cargoes that lie beneath the modern city. It is published by the University of California Press.

Khubilai Khan’s Lost Fleet

The second, Khubilai Khan’s Lost Fleet, is the result of several years of work and is an account of the history, legend and archaeological work undertaken by Japanese scholars to find and excavate the ships sent by the Khan against Japan in 1274 and 1281 – a fleet legend says was smashed by the “divine wind,” or kamikaze.
